CLOSE URGES MORE FINANCIAL FIRMS TO GO “GREEN WITHOUT ENVY”
Following the success of its revolutionary online invoice discounting facility called IDeal, award winning* Close Invoice Finance (CIF), is urging others in the financial services industry to follow suit and “go green without envy”.
Since the launch of IDeal, in September 2006, the company has managed to make a series of savings that contribute to a better environment. This includes an estimated saving of about 1.6 million sheets of A4 paper per year through the electronic processing of invoices, cash sheets, debtor statements and other documents that had been produced on paper until the introduction of the IDeal online service. CIF has also introduced a recycling programme and improved energy efficiency across its regional offices.
David Thomson, CEO, Close Invoice Finance said: “It’s about time all firms addressed environmental issues rather than simply envying others that do. Some firms are already doing great things to help limit the detrimental effect they have on the environment but too many are doing little or nothing. If every firm could improve the way it operates by just 10% it would be a good start.”
Within 15 years some 20% of Africa’s forest will be gone. The World Conservation Union’s Red List said that more than 12,000 species (out of 40,000 assessed) faced some extinction or risk. This amounts to 1 bird species in 8, 13% of all flowering species and 25% of all mammal species.
David Thomson continued, “As well as the obvious environmental benefits of companies being more socially responsible, there are benefits to the bottom line too. Numerous surveys have shown that people are more likely to buy from a company that supports and engages in activities to improve society. There are also proven benefits to staff morale and performance.”
