Cable Fork Truck Services

Fred and Denise Lewis may have been first-time company owners when they set up Cable Fork Truck Services 18 years ago, but Fred's experience in the industry guided them through the worst of new business pitfalls. "We didn't have too many problems to begin with, but those that we had, we sort of expected," Denise Cable Fork's company secretary - recounts.

Cable Fork covers all types of mechanical handling equipment, mainly fork trucks for warehouses and factory floors, and is involved in selling, hiring and repair. The company prides itself on its repeat business, which Denise says is largely due to Fred's high standards: "He's very particular about what goes out. People rely on him, and they come back to us because of his attitude."

Their accountant found them Close Invoice Finance several years back when they were experiencing payment problems some of their larger clients were taking 90 to 120 days to pay invoices, restricting their cash flow and they didn't want to turn to a bank. That's not strictly why they've stayed with Close all this time, though, according to Denise. The company's needs have changed slightly as they are selling more equipment and doing less repair work, so much of that business is cash on delivery, which has eased those pressures.

"Less goes through Close than it did before," says Denise, "but we have a good relationship with them and I want to keep them around. They've kept up with our business as our needs have changed."
