Sales Sprint Global accelerates with invoice factoring
The client
After spending 15 years in the gaming and tech industry, Neer Modha founded Sales Sprint Global in July 2023, initially specialising in retro gaming.
By choosing staff who share a genuine enthusiasm for gaming and a passion for the industry, the company has built a team that not only understands their niche but remains agile and able to quickly adapt to international market trends.
This flexibility and care for the products and customers' needs have seen them grow quickly, doubling revenue year on year. The firm has now expanded into licenced merchandising, toys and puzzles, controllers, and high-end collectables, and now works with several major UK retailers.
The challenge
The need to accommodate lengthy payment terms from large customers, while meeting supplier invoices upfront or within 30 to 60 days, placed significant strain on working capital.
That timing gap created a persistent working‑capital pinch, especially toward year‑end when stock needs to be ordered early for peak season.
As the firm secured larger distribution contracts and expanded into new categories, average order sizes grew and more sales were concentrated with a handful of large customers. This put further pressure on cash flow and day‑to‑day operations.
Despite using invoice finance from inception, the previous provider’s funding did not scale with the pace of growth, restricting capital just as momentum accelerated. This made it harder to buy stock, reduced the products available, and forced the team to choose carefully which new opportunities to pursue.
The firm needed a partner who understood the sector and could support a smooth, responsive operation as the business expanded.
The solution
Close Brothers delivered an invoice factoring facility with Bad Debt Protection and a Growth Guarantee Scheme (GGS) top‑up to increase headroom in line with the company’s rapid expansion.
Through factoring, we advance a percentage of the value of eligible invoices as soon as they are raised and manage the collections process for Sales Sprint Global. This structure releases capital immediately, smooths cash flow against longer payment terms, scales naturally with turnover, and frees internal time to focus on sales, purchasing and operations.
Bad Debt Protection adds resilience by safeguarding the business if a pre‑approved customer is unable to pay (subject to terms, conditions & limits). In practice, this supports confident trading with new and larger accounts while helping to protect margins.
To support the pace of expansion, the facility was supplemented with a GGS top‑up, a UK government‑backed guarantee to the lender, administered by the British Business Bank. Used alongside invoice finance, GGS can raise the overall funding limit and provide additional headroom for businesses actively pursuing growth.
The result
Combining invoice factoring with a GGS top‑up delivered an immediate boost to working‑capital, allowing Sales Sprint Global to bring forward inventory, meet supplier terms with confidence, and take on newly won distribution contracts.
Factoring continues to release funds as invoices are issued and makes day‑to‑day management straightforward, with funding that scales in step with turnover. At the same time, Bad Debt Protection helps manage the risk of late or non‑payment on approved customers as the client base and average order sizes grow. Close Brothers has already increased the facility twice since onboarding, aligning limits with momentum and providing a clear runway for the next phase of growth.
Neer’s view remains unequivocal: “A hundred percent — without invoice finance, we wouldn't have been able to grow.” He added, “Close Brothers were easy to work with, they were genuinely interested in our niche market and expansion. Once Adam and the team understood the business, onboarding just flew. It is simple for us to use, and we have seen the facility grow in line with our turnover already.”
Adam Knox, sales associate at Close Brothers Invoice Finance said: “Ambitious start‑ups like Sales Sprint Global move quickly. Our role is to build funding that moves with them, pairing invoice factoring with the Growth Guarantee Scheme so there’s headroom on day one, and the confidence to take on bigger orders, new accounts and seasonal peaks.”
